Gameplay The first appearance of the popular Sherlock Holmes game franchise on the Nintendo DS platform, The Mystery of the Mummy is a single player port of game developer Frogwares' PC game of the same name. On accepting the challenge of solving the mystery behind Lord Montcalfe's "disappearance," players set about exploring his Victorian mansion and searching for clues within its many rooms, levels and amongst the Egyptian artifacts that are strewn about. Holmes sees things from a first-person perspective, both horizontally and vertically. This means that players can explore almost everywhere within the game's 3D rendered environment. This is easily done using the DS stylus by tapping and dragging the touchscreen to the spot that you want to go. The stylus also facilitates exploration just as easily through a tap and hold movement that will identify any interactive opportunities within range of the stylus. Once a sleuthing opportunity has been identified the onscreen pointer will change to a magnifying glass, which with an additional tap will allow for an enlarged view. The Wii Remote: Powers, Weapons, Moves & Vehicles Wario can jump and dash, as per previous Wario Land games. New to this game is the ability to shake the Wii Remote for various effects. By default, a shake of the Wii Remote makes Wario punch the ground, causing a small earthquake and dazing enemies. Wario can then pick up dazed enemies and, with another shake of the Wii Remote, shake them for rejuvenating garlic and occasionally gold. Enemies can also be thrown, and you aim by tilting the Wii Remote. Wario also takes control of three different vehicles during the course of the game, all of which are piloted in part by tilting the Wii Remote. The controls are standard for a Wii Remote held sideways (D-pad, buttons), but with an important twist: most of Wario's special moves are accomplished by shaking or tilting the Wii Remote. This allows great versatility but without forcing the player to remember complicated button combinations.

While Wario was taking a ride in his private plane, the engine sputtered and he had to make an emergency landing. Taking refuge in a cave, he stumbles upon a magical music box. The box sucks him inside, where he comes across an odd fellow who claims to have been the ruler of the music box world. He cannot regain control until he finds five small music boxes. Wario agrees to help find the boxes in exchange for all of the treasure he can find and a ticket out of the music box. You take control of the invincible Wario as he travels throughout the kingdom. Even though Wario is invincible, enemies still pose a problem. When a bad guy hits him, Wario will be afflicted with some temporary effect. Utilizing these side effects is key to solving some of the game's more challenging puzzles. Help Wario find treasure and maybe a music box or two in WARIO LAND 3.

The Wario Land series stands as one of the most innovative on the Game Boy Color, and with each new release we are left wondering how Nintendo is going to top itself with subsequent releases. Somehow they've managed to improve on the game's magical formula once again with Wario Land 3, which is not only the best Wario game ever released, but also one of the best Game Boy Color games, period. Most games require cheat codes before players get unlimited lives, but the gameplay of Wario Land 3 revolves around the concept of invincibility. Wario can't die, but the various creatures in the game can transform him temporarily into an alternate form. Get hit by a zombie, and you turn into a zombie until you are healed by light from a street lamp. Let the mad professor hit you with his potion and you become invisible, meaning security cameras can't see you, but you also can't see yourself to make precision jumps. Each alternate form has a specific strength and weakness, and figuring out how to use the transformations to solve puzzles is half of the game's fun. It may seem counterintuitive, but to succeed at this game you'll need to deliberately try to get hit by certain enemies at various points in the game. Is this the anti-Mario, or what? The graphics are clear and colorful, and the animations for both Wario and the other denizens of the land he's trapped in are very fluid. The sound effects are so-so, but the strange soundtracks that play on each level are catchy. Considering the limitations of the Game Boy Color, it's nice to have a game that combines some of the best graphics the system can output with some of the most phenomenal gameplay ever developed for any title. --T. Gameplay An action role-playing game (RPG) like the first two PSP releases in the Valhalla Knights series, Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga challenges players with the task of uniting the divided peoples of the land of Eldar against a rising evil and battling the creatures at its vanguard. Fighting your way through a series of story driving quests and optional side adventures, players have the freedom of choice needed to build their party, as well as their choice of a variety of character classes, including fighter, mage, priest, thief, and bard as they customize their own character. The game can be played in single player mode locally, where the player teams up with AI characters, or a two-player co-op mode online that lets you battle your way across Eldar with friends from all over the world. Action within the game's storyline is split between two player controlled characters set within different time periods, as the player's initial character eventually marries, has children and passes the quest to save Eldar on to his/her progeny. Combat in quests occurs in real-time, meaning that enemies are always viewable.
