The Need for Speed series is already established as one of the best racing game series on the PlayStation. Need for Speed: High Stakes continues the tradition in fine style by adding several new elements to the gameplay, and offering a wide variety of tracks and cars. Where the previous game in the series had you running from the law, this one has you racing for pink slips. Sure, you can still play cops and robbers (this time even playing the role of John Q. Law), but the real fun in this game comes from racing to win so that you can buy a better car. Once equipped with faster wheels, you can hook up with a friend to race for titles in the two-player mode. High Stakes boasts the best graphics in the series, but they come at a price: slowdown. All too frequently, we found ourselves hitting a wall or an opponent's vehicle because the game stuttered as we drove into a graphics-intensive portion of the track. Good visuals are nice, but they should never come at the expense of gameplay. Still, when else will you get a chance to blow away a buddy's shiny new McLaren F1 in your "lowly" Corvette? --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Fun tracks and a variety of high-performance vehicles Playing as the cops can be fun Excellent sound effects Cons: Suffers from slowdown too often

The Scams You Need To Be Wary Of As You Play For High Poker Stakes With Real Poker Money
As gambling games made the transition from the conventional casinos to the online Internet formats, the scams that are associated with the traditional card game were not left behind. These scams took on a new shape and they continue to flourish online where like the table format of the game poker stakes are often high. There are a good number of scams that a player should be wary of when dealing with real poker money.
The first and most primary scam has to do with the website that the player is playing in. There are a number of sites that have been noted for their dubious character and a player has to be keen enough so as to play in sites that have the best reputation only. The dubious sites are run by fraudulent owners who unfairly use the technical opportunities at their disposal to take advantage of hapless players.
By virtue of the fact that these website owners can see the cards that the players are holding it is very easy for them to take part in a game especially one that involves real poker money and take all the money for themselves. Whether this is a high or low poker stakes game the undue advantage is unfair. One is advised to play in a reputable website always. These sites are professionally monitored using specialized software and any malpractices are dealt with in industry forums.
Another scam that seems to have permeated even the most reputable of websites has to do with collusion between regular players. This scam is of course quite commonplace when the game's poker stakes involve real poker money. These rogue players take advantage of communication channels to interact as the game is being played and in this way they gain an unfair advantage, which ends up tipping the game in their favor. The most common channels of communication that they use are Instant Messaging and, of course, phone. They discuss the cards they are holding. This scam can also take a different format. One player may decide to lose the chips he is holding to another player, intentionally, thus effectively granting him a big opportunity to triumph in the tournament.
One of the craftiest scams that is a real handicap to the real money poker game is the use of bots. Bots are essentially software programs that play on behalf of a real player - it is possible to use such software and go about your other activities without the other players realizing that it is not you who is playing.
Despite the fact that many of the bots that are being sold today are breaking even and losing games one should not take a chance playing against them especially when the poker stakes are high since there are indeed some which have been proved to be quite consistent winners.
A good way of noticing if you are playing against a bot is that it will tend to play in a predictable manner and it will rarely chat. The extremely good poker players may succeed in tricking the bots but if you are a novice there is a very good chance that you will lose all your real poker money.
As a recent inductee into the game, low poker stakes games are the way to go initially. Patience and of course caution to the aforementioned scam varieties are of the essence before making the jump to high poker stakes games.

Why is it important to Jehovah's Witnesses that Jesus died upon a stake and not a cross?
The important thing to me is that Jesus died for my sins. In mine eyes it makes no difference if was a stake or a cross. Why do JV make this a religious question, as it seems?
It does make a difference. There is strong Biblical basis for assuming a cross beam:
In Jn 20:25 the word "nails" is in the plural suggesting each hand was nailed separately to a cross beam.
Mt. 27:37 says the charge was posted above Jesus’ “head” as seen in traditional depictions of the crucifixion, not above his “hands” as the WT portrays.
Jn 21:18 contains a specific prophecy of what death Peter would glorify God by, and mentioned “outstretched hands.”
At Mk 15:27, the Greek words used in the text for “right” and “left” imply right-HAND and left-HAND. Look them up in a good concordance. There were other words available which simply meant right or left SIDE.
The fact that the Bible records that the cross (patibulum, or cross-beam) was carried to the place of execution (Lk 23:26; Mt. 27:32; Jn 19:17) is conclusive that Jesus was put to death on a cross according to available historical records such as the writings of Josephus. Those convicted never carried the 300+ lb upright stake, but rather the lighter traverse beam.
There is no question that the Greek stauros originally meant ‘stake’ — that aspect of its etymology is clear. However, a word means more than its etymology, as the English word "nice" demonstrates, originally meaning ‘ignorant’ or ‘foolish’; or in Greek, a word for ‘punishment,’ epitimia, originally meant ‘a citizen's privileges and rights.’ So to understand the biblical stauros, we must look at the historical as well as the linguistic context. Under whose judicial system, using whose methods of execution, did Jesus die? The Romans, of course. So it is immaterial how Greeks executed criminals — the issue is how Romans did.
More importantly, the Bible contains God’s specific instructions on burnt offerings and how the blood was to be sprinkled on the altar at Ez 43:18 . Read further and you’ll see the blood was not just randomly sprinkled about, but was placed on the four corners. The blood was used to cleanse--the altar had to be cleansed for the purpose of sin atonement. Beginning at Ez 45:18, you can read about the value of blood for cleansing the sanctuary and the altar in preparation for Passover. Notice again that the blood is placed on the four corners of the ledge of the altar.
Recall the parallels you’re aware of between the OT and NT concerning the Passover and Jesus’ death. (No blemishes, no broken bones, etc.)
Think about this--did Jesus have an altar? What was Jesus’ altar? In preparation for the Passover, the altar had to be cleansed. It started out as an unclean object and became clean when the blood was applied to the four corners. Look back in the OT about WHO applied the blood—the high priest! Now, how many corners did Jesus’ altar have? Was blood applied to each of the four corners of Jesus’ altar? I guarantee you if you study this, you will gain a new appreciation for the crown of thorns, because without that crown there would have only been blood on three corners.
Now, how many corners does the Watchtower say Jesus’ altar had? They say 2, because they picture it as merely an upright stake. They’re effectively saying that the prophecies of Ezekiel were not fulfilled (the parallels between the OT Passover and NT Passover). They’re saying that the object Jesus was crucified (“impaled” in their Bible and magazines) upon remained unclean. The power of the blood was to cleanse and sanctify the altar. Their interpretation asserts that Jesus’ blood didn’t have that kind of power. When you look at some of their other doctrines, you’ll see this is true.
Moreover, when the Hebrews took the blood of the lamb on Passover and applied it to the two sides of the doorframe and to the lintel (top of the doorframe), some of the blood would have dripped to the floor, demarcating a CROSS. The blood from Jesus’ head, hands, and feet on the cross matched the locations of the blood of the lamb on the doorframe (top, sides, and bottom) of each Hebrew family’s house in Egypt. Jesus fulfilled Passover, and His blood covers our sins so that we are not condemned. We have been justified by His blood. (Rom 5:9) In Him we have redemption through His blood. (Eph 1:7)
In Gal 6:14 when Paul said, “I boast about the cross,” this wasn’t just some unclean object, no matter where it originated. The origin of the cross makes no difference whatsoever. Paul was talking about the sacred altar of our Lord that had been cleansed for Passover to bear the Lamb of God. When Christians look at the cross, and think about that crown of thorns, they understand that the passages of Scripture from Ezekiel are prophetic. The cross is Jesus’ altar, and no one should dare try to tell me that it’s pagan or unclean, because the power of Jesus’ blood cleansed it! The very same blood by which we are redeemed and justified, through which our relationship to God is restored cleansed that altar (Eph 1:7: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace).
