Sony Gran Turismo 3 A-spec VideoGame f/PlayStation 2
The PlayStation2 takes the Gran Turismo franchise to new heights in the third edition of the venerable racing series. The graphics are sure to grab you--the cars and tracks are awe inspiring, and there are some incredible lighting effects. This game is much more than eye candy, though. The gameplay in Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec is the same as its predecessors; fans of the previous games will feel right at home, while newcomers will be able to pick things up easily. There are more than 150 cars from which to choose, and plenty of tracks upon which to race them. Arcade mode works well for a quick fix, while simulation mode provides outstanding replay value. The sound effects are impressive--each engine has a unique sound, and tire screeches from different cars sound noticeably different. The soundtrack is a good mix of original compositions and a wide variety of recording artists, including Motley Crue, Raekwon, Jimi Hendrix, and Snoop Dogg. One minor flaw with the game is its relatively predictable artificial intelligence. Computer-controlled cars follow distinct lines, and you'll be able to pick up the patterns after a few races. Considering how far the graphics have come since the original Gran Turismo, it's disappointing that the AI hasn't progressed similarly. Despite this, GT3 remains an outstanding game. Few games offer its combination of high quality and immense variety. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Incredible graphics Excellent physics and controls Great soundtrack Cons: Predictable AI No Porsche or Ferrari licenses
The third title of the Gran Turismo series takes full advantage of the new PlayStation2 game engine, which is capable of rendering about 20 million polygons per second--roughly 10 times the number of total polygons of the series' previous installment, Gran Turismo 2. Real-time lighting forces your eyes to adjust to changing conditions, such as when a car rounds a turn and the sun comes out from behind a building to cause glare on the windshield. This makes the game harder, but more realistic. Heat rises off the ground and mist swirls around vehicles as they make their way across the racetrack.Gran Turismo 3 also features more than 100 distinct cars, each with different statistics, including the Subaru Impreza Rally, Dodge Viper GTS-R, and Mazda's RX-7 RS. Computer-controlled opponents benefit from enhanced artificial intelligence; they don't act like baby ducks following their mother, but instead respond to other cars, the course, and the conditions in much the same way that real drivers would. Pressure a car, and it will pressure you back; cut one off in the early part of the race, and expect to receive similar treatment down the course. They don't drive perfectly, either; some will spin out and make other mistakes over the course of a race.

Playing the Game of Kalooki
Kalooki is a card game based on melds. It is fun and interesting once you figure out the basic rules. However, the rules may be rather different from other traditional card games that you are familiar with. So if you interested in learning more about the game of Kalooki, perhaps you may find this article useful. Here is how to play a game of Kalooki.
The game starts out by distributing 13 cards to each player. The remaining cards are then left on the stock pile. The game requires 2 to 6 players, so you can't play this game alone. You have to involve your family and friends.
Each player will have his or her turn. During a turn, a player must draw a card either from the stock pile, or the discard pile. The turn must end with the player discarding some cards on the discard pile. The basic rules of the game revolve around melds. You can only discard cards when they form melds. Melds are card combinations that allow you to discard the cards in your hands. The goal is to be the first player to finish discarding all the cards in your hands.
As you can imagine, each player will be trying to figure out the best way to discard all the cards they have. Remember, you can only discard cards only if there is an available meld (combination) for you to do so.
Like all card games, there are various strategies you can use to beat the competition. In Kalooki, two common strategies used are "Hunt" and "Going out". Using the Hunt strategy, the player holds on to the cards in his or her hands. When the other players start to have lesser cards as they continue to discard their cards, that also means that it gets harder and harder for them to form melds. That is when the Hunt player strikes. The Hunt player will then discard melds all at one go, easily overtaking all the other players. This is a very popular strategy because there is an element of surprise.
The Going Out strategy is the reverse of the Hunt strategy. That means the player gradually discard cards one at a time until all the cards have been discarded. This strategy is less exciting, but it's highly effective as well. Ultimately, the strategy that a player chooses depends on the hand that the player is dealt with. A skilled Kalooki player will know which strategy to use based on the cards that he or she is holding.
The game of Kalooki is not often mentioned in social gatherings. Therefore, many people still don't know about this fun card game. But there are signs of the rising popularity of the game of Kalooki. So be sure to learn how to play this game so that you won't be left out in the next social gathering!

Note: Bonus Disc is included with purchase of this title, but not with rental.Prinnies are slaves of the evil Etna, humans sent to the Netherworld to pay their dues for lives of wrong. Etna has decided she wants the perfect dessert. So she chooses you, a Prinny, to collect all the ingredients for it! Start the level with 1,000 lives - you'll need them. You'll side-scroll your way through various areas of the Netherworld. Slash and shoot through the demons who reside there, then claim their ingredients for your own. You'll jump, slash wildly with your double swords, and stomp enemies to stun them. It's up to you to prove that even a henchman can become the hero!
The most over the top side scrolling action game ever comes to the PSP. Players will take control 1000 penguin soldiers called Prinny to find ingredients for the ultimate desert. Players must utilize anything they find on the battlefield to combat vicious predators in the Netherworld.
In Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? players are treated to a single player spin-off from the popular role-playing (RPG) universe of Disgaea. Here players step into the unlucky shoes of a penguin called a Prinny and 999 of his comrades as you slash your way through various Netherworld areas in side-scrolling service to the Demon Lord Etna. Although the mission that you are saddled with is ridiculously comic, the action you face is not, so you're given 1,000 lives to work with and you can use everything you find on the battlefield to help you survive and succeed. Caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; } table.callout { font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; } td.vgoverview { height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; } Classic side-scrolling action. View larger. Challenging difficulty levels. View larger. Multiple vehicles & aircraft. View larger. The Story Prinnies are the reincarnated souls of evil humans trapped in purgatory. Summoned by urgent order, the player in the form of the lowly Prinny rushes to meet his boss, Demon Lord Etna in her chamber. You arrive just in time to see Etna beating your fellow prinnies to a pulp. She is definitely in a bad mood, being even more abusive and violent than usual. As it turns out, someone has snatched her favorite dessert from the fridge. Eager to vent her frustration, she orders you to hunt down the ingredients to create a new Ultra Dessert and promises that if you do not deliver the goods by the next morning that you will learn what eternal suffering really means. Since you are at the very bottom of the netherworld food chain, if not its gutter, you have no choice but to snap into action. Gameplay Prinny is a side-scrolling platformer filled with classic flavored gameplay that requires timing of jumps and memorization of the patterns of enemy movements. As non-threatening as dessert making might seem, nothing could be further from the truth. In the game players are given 10 hours and the use of 999 identical comrades from the Prinny Squad to defeat demon bosses spread throughout the game's levels who possess the necessary ingredients to create a new dessert for Etna. Although this may sound like way more than enough help, surprisingly challenging gameplay that consistently has players one blow from either victory or defeat and the nature of the prinnies themselves will quickly change player's perception on this. True to their origins in the Disgaea universe where their literal explosive nature makes them perfect cannon fodder to aim at enemies, prinnies are extremely volatile. Players can only only control one prinny at a time because you only possess one red scarf, which not only indicates your status as current game hero, but also keeps you from blowing up. Wave after wave of enemies within the game also conspire to exploit the prinnies' tendency towards combustion, and more often than not are successful, underlining the importance of your 999 friends. This means that players do not actually play as a single prinny. As one meets his end another takes his place and you are kept informed of how many prinnies you have left, as well as how many hours. Prinnies are not defenseless though. Players have use of a variety of attacks and moves like the 'Dual Sword Slash' to deal with enemies in front of you, the 'Hip Pound' which allows you to stun opponents with your bottom and standard platformer jump and sprint functionality for mobility. In addition, prinnies can lift and throw objects like bombs, stomp enemies and even pilot tanks and planes to bombard whatever gets in your way. The game comes with two modes: Standard Mode, which allows you to take damage up to 3 times before losing a life and Hell Mode where one blow means instant death. In this ridiculously comic adventure you will need every advantage if you hope to survive the cost of the ultimate sweet treat. Key Game Features: 1,000 Units - Players will get 1000 lives to beat the toughest action of this platforming side-scroller. Lift & Throw - Prinnies are able to lift and throw objects on the battlefield. Vehicles - Steal and control powerful vehicles, like tanks and UFOs. Hip Pound: Jump and pound enemies to stun them. Then you can inflict multiple combo attacks for extra damage. 3D World with 2D Characters: In Prinny, character art is created using fluid 2D sprites, giving it a classic look with a comical tone. Battlefields and backgrounds, however, are created with 3D models. This allows for a smooth and unique combat action where certain attacks are rendered in a 3-dimensional view. Boss Battles Galore - 10 Major stages featuring many hidden characters and a boss waiting at the end of each. Music Collection Mode - Find music tracks during game and replay them as background music. Humor - Ridiculously comedic storyline and characters.
Yo Joe! Join the ranks of G.I. Joe for a mission 45 years in the making! G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra picks up where the live-action film ends and draws from over four decades of rich G.I. Joe history to create an all-new action-packed story. Join the G.I. Joe forces as you assemble a hand-picked team of combat-hungry heroes and stop a deadly Cobra plot. From the beaches of Normandy to the jungles of the south Pacific Islands...the Commandos are sent to the deadliest missions of World War II. This stunning collection offers you all five titles of the Commandos series in one unique pack. Lead to battle the best force that the Allies have at their disposal!
Command Sergeant "Tiny" McHale and his elite group of gritty soldiers utilize their combined expertise to venture deep into enemy territory in an attempt to change the war.
The direct approach isn't always the best approach--this concept lies at the heart of Commandos 2 just as it did with its predecessor, the innovative 1998 real-time tactical combat game that mixed elements of stealth, action, and even puzzle-solving in a World War II setting. Spanish developer Pyro Studios' visually stunning sequel takes the core gameplay of the original, adds some of the features from the 1999 stand-alone expansion pack along with plenty of great new ideas, and ultimately provides a highly challenging, sophisticated experience that's even better than the first. But be warned--Commandos 2 can be as intimidating as its premise makes it sound: You'll command a small group of elite Allied operatives deep behind enemy lines to perform a series of important clandestine missions. At every turn, your commandos will be avoiding the patrols of German or Japanese forces. It can be a difficult game, especially at first, but Commandos 2 truly evokes the intensity of the harrowing depictions of World War II that you've probably seen in film or on television.
No Mission Is Impossible. From the heart of the Third Reich to the most remote islands in the South Pacific, command Sergeant "Tiny" McHale and his elite group of gritty soldiers and utilize their combined expertise to venture deep into enemy territory in an attempt to change the course of the war. Interact with the environment: Steal enemy uniforms and weapons, climb poles, swing from cables, swim, utilize vehicles, and climb in and out of buildings. Authentic WWII scenarios: 10 missions spanning 9 different environments in night and day with realistic weather effects. Multiplayer: Go to war in a cooperative multiplayer mode. Innovative camera control: Follow the action in various parts of the map simultaneously with multiple gameplay windows. Control 9 commandos, including a green beret, sniper, demolitions expert, seductress, thief, and even a dog. 3D engine: Rotate the environment 360°, move seamlessly in and out of buildings, submarines, planes and under water, and zoom in and out of the environments.

The Free Burma Rangers, better known simply as FBR, began humanitarian relief missions into the war-torn country of Burma (now called "Myanmar" by the ruling military junta) in 1997. The team risks their lives taking in food, medical supplies, and educational materials to the more than one million internally displaced people (IDPs), who have been forced to flee their villages leaving them shelter-less and stuck foraging for food while hiding in the jungle. Many of these once self-sustaining farmers now rely on the assistance of the Rangers for their survival. The Burmese army randomly attacks villages in remote areas where various ethnic groups live. The natives re-build temporary sites when possible but always live with the fear of another attack.
Once a prosperous developing nation, over fifty years of civil war has left Burma one of the poorest countries in the world. Resistance fighters from different ethnic groups try to defend their land and people but they are hugely out-numbered and lack the support needed to regain control of their areas.
FBR also maintains a close relationship with people who have fled the war and are now living in refugee camps in Thailand. They are faced with another set of problems as most are unable to work legally and have become part of a stagnating culture. Many of the children born in the camps do not even realize they have their own culture and land which has been stolen from them. The camps are crowded and often lack in sanitation with as many as 50,000 people living in extremely close proximity to one another. Those who do manage to find work often become abused by employers and are unable to report violations due to their illegal status. They also run the daily risk of being arrested and possibly sent back to the very danger they fled from inside Burma.
The original FBR team was made up of 4 soldiers from the Karen and Karenni ethnic groups who wanted to make a difference and saw a need to help their fellow countrymen who struggle to live on a daily basis. These "humanitarian commandos", as they are often referred to, were originally approached by a Christian missionary desperate to address this crisis. Though many members are Christian, all faiths are welcome and the group is committed to bring aid to all people in need regardless of ethnicity and religion.
Since its inception, the team has expanded by holding yearly intensive training sessions enabling multiple teams to provide relief reaching different areas simultaneously. Various skills are taught during the training program including leadership, human rights abuse documentation, compass navigation, water and ropes courses, and ways to strengthen ethnic unity. FBR goes on foot, crossing rivers and mountain ranges, which demands great physical and mental strength. All supplies and medical aid must be carried in on their backs sometimes walking 15 hours a day to stay ahead of the Burmese Army and reach the innocent victims of the war.
Though the teams operate under the protection of the ethnic resistance armies, they refuse to run away if the people they are helping come under attack. This level of solidarity and dedication never goes unnoticed. Sometimes more important than the assistance is the hope they bring. Their presence alone offers encouragement to the IDPs reminding them they have not been forgotten.
Besides basic medical care, the rangers are equipped to perform extensive operations when needed as many land mine victims they encounter require limb amputations. Other minor surgeries including tooth extractions are also performed, often with little or no anesthesia.
When a team arrives at a specific location, they are briefed by locals as to the threat level of any Burmese army in the area. They then immediately set up a mobile clinic and word quickly spreads that help has arrived. People with various medical conditions line up calmly and those most critical are always treated first. During each mission, which lasts between 1 and 2 months, more than 1000 patients are treated and thousands more are assisted in many ways.
In the beginning, supplies lined the basement of a safe house in Thailand and the entire operation was run by 5 people out of that space. They now have an extensive network of volunteers based both in Thailand and abroad working 365 days a year to further their cause.
That one team has grown into over 100 with almost 50 full time FBR teams now active throughout Burma. They have treated over 350,000 patients and helped more than 750,000 people. FBR is in continuous contact with government leaders around the world and give reports and updates about the situation inside the country. This inspiring group receives generous donations from foreign individuals touched by their amazing courage and contribution to the people of Burma.
If you are interested in donating to the cause, or for more information about the Free Burma Rangers, please check out their website: www dot FreeBurmaRangers dot org.

Rescued Bichon Name... Help me pick one?
Ok, I just got the word from a Bichon Rescue that I'm the proud new momma of a 2 year old female Bichon. She's very sweet, very docile, not timid, but she's submissive. (Its kind of funny. when she and my dog first met, they had a war of who was going to go belly up first.) But they got along famously.
now I need a name.
My current dog has a Japanese name, so I want to stick with the theme for his sister.
These are the names I've narrowed it down to
Gin (Geen) - Silver
Ai (Aye) - Love
Sakura (Sah-koo-rah) - Cherry Blossom
Mitsu (Meet-soo) - Light
Yoshi (Yo-shee) - Good/respectful
Mai (my) - Elegance
Tukiko (To-kee-koh) - Snow Child
Uta (OO-tah) - Song/Poem
Kishi (Kee-shee) - Long happy life
Kichi (kee-chee) - Good Fortune/Lucky
Hoshi (Hoh-shee) - a Star
Anyone like one of these best or have a different (Japanese) suggestion?
I like Sakura and Yoshi a lot.
I also like Airi (love, affection)
Junko (Jun-KO) From Japanese 順 (jun) "obedient" or 純 (jun) "genuine, pure" combined with 子 (ko) "child".

What is wrong with the coasters on Thrillville Explorer? (Thrillville: off the rails) WII?
On thrillville : off the rails for wii, you unlock a new theme park called Thrillville Explorer. It says that there is something wrong with the coasters, but I can't figure out what's wrong with them! What do i do to fix 'em? All i hear the customers talking about is "oh my i just saw a coaster crash!' help?!
When a coaster crashes that means you didn't finish the coaster entirely and instead of stopping the coaster just crashes at where you just stopped making it.
Most of the people like it when a coaster crashes but a hand full of them don't. All you have to do is finish the coaster.
I always do that. It's fun to watch a coaster crash.

Featuring graphics that surpass even the amazing NFL 2K, Soul Calibur is the martial arts fighting game to end all fighting games and the game to get if you're a Dreamcast owner. Based on the arcade classic of the same name, Soul Calibur lets you choose to represent one of 10 fighters in a series of battles against your peers. If you can successfully defeat all of your opponents, you will then face the fiendish Inferno in a final showdown that will determine the fate of the world. Each of the game's warriors is armed with a different deadly weapon--sword, ax, stave, nunchaku, you name it--and an assortment of special moves all tailored to that specific weapon. The warriors include men, women, and creatures from all over the globe and from various mythologies. Each is brought to life with amazing motion-capture animation, which results in incredibly lifelike and realistic duels. If you own a Dreamcast or are thinking of buying one, do yourself a favor and add Soul Calibur to your collection. --Mike Ryan Pros: Exceptionally lifelike graphics and animation Multiple game modes--1-player, 2-player, team, computer vs. computer, martial arts demo, and more Secrets and extra features will keep players coming back Cons: May be too violent for some parents

Fighting games are usually not my forte, but out of all the fighting games that I have played Soul Calibur 2 is the one that I most enjoy. I am not proficient in most of the fighting games; in fact, all that I really do is just hit buttons and hope for the best. This is why Soul Calibur 2 works for me; a player does not need to know any of the combo attacks in order to hold their own with the best players. I play against people that are far more skilled than I at this game and still manage to win a great deal of the time.
Soul Calibur 2 has not been changed much from its predecessors; a few characters have been added and some of the graphics have been changed along with all new stages, but other than that I guess they figured why change something that's working. The cool moves that a fan of previous games enjoyed have continued on in this game along with their favorite fighters. The characters may be a little different in either looks or moves, but it is all for the better and not so drastic as to annoy even the most hardcore fans of the first games.
The new characters that accompany all of the console versions are Raphael who is a fencer with a long reach on his sword, Talim who holds two blades in either hand, and Necrid who uses the other fighter's stances and attacks. These characters flow well with the feel of the original characters and bring more energy to the game. However each console was given their own character that acts as a mascot for the system. The PS2 has Heihachi Mishima which comes from Tekken, the Xbox has Spawn who comes from image comics, and the GameCube has Link from the notorious Legend of Zelda games. Each fighter has special moves that are indicative to their origination.
Soul Calibur 2, unlike the Mortal Kombat games, is more appropriate for children because it is not gory. However, I would advise parental discretion before purchasing this game for anyone under the age of eighteen due to the violence that it involves. The basis of this game is just to fight one another; there are characters that fight for the good side and characters that fight for the bad side. When the player tries to unlock items by playing against the computer a story line begins about each of the characters' lives. The player can unlock articles of clothing, weapons, etc.
Favorites: Xianghua and Raphael
Fun: Maxi
Sexy: Ivy and Kilik
Creepy: Voldo
The reason that Xianghua and Raphael are my favorites is that they both have long reach with their swords and are quick to move. Xianghua is the one that I fight the best with; I still haven't bothered to learn any of her combos, but I can kick %!!! with her anyway. Maxi is fun to use even if you lose with him every time. He bounces all over the stage almost out of control (at least for me). Ivy and Kilik are sexy for the same reason; they look bad. Of course I don't mean bad as in ugly; I mean bad as in sinful. These two have got it going on. As for the creep factor I have yet to see anything as bad as Voldo. I wouldn't want to run into him down a dark alley; or anywhere else for that matter! My nightmares can't even conjure up something this strange.
The mascot characters are actually my least favorite part of the game; they are a bit campy and very difficult to fight against. Zelda is the worst of all three of them for being almost unbeatable. He can throw bombs, boomerangs, arrows, or use his sword. If you're up against a player that uses him well it is virtually impossible to get close to him. There is really not much else that I can say badly about the game; except for maybe the limited amount of change from the original versions.
Soul Calibur 2 deserves all of the praise that it has received from the critics. This game is fun and it is a keeper unlike other games which you beat and return to the store. Soul Calibur 2 deserves a place for life in your video game library because it never gets boring and it is fun to play with a group of friends.
Which game looks more sharper soul calibur 2 or 3 on ps2 or do they look the same?
Also is heihachi cool in soul calibur 2 and can anyone send me a video of soul calibur 2 for ps2
Graphically, Soul Calibur 3 is a beautiful game and in my opinion looks far better than Soul Calibur 2.
When it comes to exclusive characters in Soul Calibur 2, Ps2 owners got the shaft.
Heihachi is pretty useless in Soul Calibur, (when it comes to Tekken, he's great), Soul Calibur just isn't the arena he was built for. He's so easily outranged by everyone there's no real reason to play as him, particularly against Ivy or Astaroth.

Televison Lets Me Play The Games That I Enjoy
Television lets me Play the Games That I Enjoy
I've always enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, even though I was never able to complete the one that appears in each Sunday's edition of The New York Times … too difficult for me. As a student in grade school right up to and through college, I actually looked forward to quizzes, even the ones for which there was no warning.
That love of answering questions has always translated well for me when it comes to my television experiences. TV has been, almost from the beginning, a home for people who like to solve puzzles and answer questions.
Travel back fifty years or so and the biggest hit show of the period was a half hour program entitled "The $64,000 Question." Unlike today's big money quiz shows that give contestants all sorts of help in answering the questions, that first successful quiz show put its contestants in "soundproof booths" in order to isolate them from audience chatter and the possibility of actually hearing a correct answer.
The first contestant to win the big prize (and $64,000 was a big prize) was a man named Charles Van Doren. He had to answer questions given to him by the show's host, Hal March, that were extremely difficult and required extensive knowledge of the subject matter posed in the question. When Van Doren answered the final question to win the money, he became a national celebrity until, some time later, news leaked out that the show's producer had given him the answer in advance.
That revelation literally destroyed the quiz show format for many years, certainly programs in which the top prize was a significant amount of money. In time, however, audiences forgot about the scandal and quiz (or knowledge) shows found their way back on to the small screen.
It started slowly at first with the introduction of simple word games that required quick responses, but no special knowledge. There were other TV games in which cash prizes were awarded to contestants who could solve a picture puzzle. And still other shows that rewarded contestants who possessed no special knowledge of any subject, but were just plain lucky.
Through it all, I watched and enjoyed these shows, always hoping that a show which would challenge me and "test my knowledge" would someday show up on my TV screen. And thanks to the special genius of the late Merv Griffin, that day arrived.
Now, and for as far back as I can remember, I have been a fan of Jeopardy." I love to sit at home and respond to the answers with the correct question. And when I do, I often wonder how successful I would be if I had to do it on stage in front of a national TV audience.
I don't have that answer. But, I know this: my need to answer questions (or respond to answers with questions) is being satisfied five nights a week – every time host Alex Trebek and Jeopardy fill up my TV screen.

Is the game show "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" a spin-off of the 70s/80s game show "Cross-Wits"?
It is similar but I think Merv Griffin's Crosswords is closer to the traditional crossword game than the game show "Cross-Wits."
